In 2020, Alfonso swore she would be leaving "Days of Our Lives" to pursue other avenues as an actress. She mentioned that she felt the time had come to explore what the industry could offer her, although she would always look back at her time on the soap opera with fondness.
Like his new bride, Daggenhurst also had a son from a previous relationship, Spartan Daggenhurst.

Just like Reckell, the actress said, "No, I'm not coming back." After news broke that she would appear on the show again, fans took to social media to slam her for going back on her word. The actress retaliated, saying she never said she was done with the show permanently.

One fan wondered whether she was having health problems but was glad to see two classic characters again.

Many fans realized that the change in appearance was most likely due to what one commenter referred to as "Bad cosmetic surgery." Another person mentioned that she "looked better before" and speculated that the results were due to "filler." One fan wrote:

Although many fans were happy to see Alfonso return to the show, discounting those who slammed her for returning, a large part of the fanbase wondered why she felt the need to fight aging with cosmetic surgery. One fan wrote:
